Vision and Waterfront Luxury: Inside The Perry Hotel Naples

NAPLES, Fla. — When Michael Raymond and Matthew Strunk look out over the sweeping Cocohatchee River from the rooftop bar at The Perry Hotel Naples, they see more than just a view. They see the fulfillment of a vision that started nearly two decades ago in Key West and has now taken shape as Naples’ newest luxury waterfront hotel.

Raymond, CEO and president of the hotel and managing director of FOD Capital, and Strunk, general manager and CFO of FOD Capital, shared the story of how The Perry brand evolved into what is now one of the most exciting new destinations for both locals and travelers.

"This is Perry 2.0," Raymond said. "Our first hotel began in Key West in a marina community. What was once a rundown shrimping village transformed into a thriving destination, and in 2017, The Perry Hotel Key West opened its doors. That success inspired us to bring the concept north — to Naples."

The Perry name pays homage to Commodore Matthew C. Perry, the U.S. naval officer credited with planting the American flag in Key West.

From Vision to Rooftop Views

The Naples project was never meant to be just another hotel along U.S. 41. Instead, the goal was to create a true destination — with fine dining, a rooftop bar, luxury accommodations, and immersive waterfront experiences.

When scouting the untouched riverfront property, Raymond and Strunk climbed into a hydraulic lift to imagine the seventh-floor view.

"Once we saw the Gulf, the sunsets, the reflections on the Cocohatchee — it was breathtaking," Strunk said. "That’s when we knew the rooftop was going to define this hotel."

Today, the rooftop deck and rooftop pool at The Perry Hotel Naples showcase sweeping Gulf Coast sunsets and panoramic views of Naples’ waterways.

Designed for Naples, Inspired by Key West

While The Perry Hotel Key West leans into a maritime industrial aesthetic, The Perry Hotel Naples blends those design roots with modern coastal luxury. Guests are welcomed into a soaring 30-foot lobby layered with nautical textures of concrete, metal, and wood, creating a refined yet contemporary atmosphere.

But the design is only part of the experience — dining takes center stage.

At the crown of the hotel sits Tigress Restaurant, a Cantonese-inspired chophouse with bold flavors and a jewel-box design. Partnered with celebrity chef Dale Talde, Tigress has quickly become a fine dining Naples hotspot, drawing both hotel guests and locals seeking elevated cuisine paired with rooftop views.

Just next door, Easy Tiger Rooftop Bar offers handcrafted cocktails and a vibrant social scene that has already made it a favorite among Naples’ dining and nightlife destinations.

Lifestyle on the Water

The Perry Hotel Naples stands apart from other hotels in the city by offering direct access to the Cocohatchee River and more than 1,000 acres of surrounding conservation land.

Guests can kayak through mangrove tunnels, paddleboard alongside manatees, or set out on the hotel’s eco-friendly Go Boats. Complimentary shuttles provide easy access to Wiggins and Barefoot beaches.

"It’s not just about the beach — it’s about the journey," Strunk explained. "Here, you explore the river, the wildlife, the mangroves. It’s a unique experience in Naples."

On property, amenities include two pools (including the rooftop pool), live music, boutique shopping, and a serene library lounge — all designed to reflect a blend of relaxation and luxury lifestyle.

Hospitality at the Heart

Despite the striking architecture, waterfront location, and elevated dining, Raymond and Strunk agree that the team members at The Perry Hotel Naples are the true difference-makers.

"Hospitality is in their DNA," Strunk said. "From the moment you’re greeted in the lobby, you feel the warmth and genuine service that defines us."

A New Standard for Naples Luxury

Looking ahead, Raymond and Strunk remain focused on making The Perry Hotel Naples a long-lasting success before considering future expansions.

For first-time visitors, Strunk’s advice is simple:

"Expect more than just a stay. Expect fine dining at Tigress Restaurant, cocktails at our rooftop bar, kayaking through Naples’ backwaters, and sunsets that stay with you long after you leave. This isn’t just a hotel — it’s a destination."
